Yesterday was my final day to lead worship at Shadow Mountain Church in San Diego, Ca. I have served there as worship pastor for the last 20 months. During that time, I have had the privilege of sitting under Dr. David Jeremiah’s teaching each week, working with a stellar worship team, participating in many worship services at the church, traveling with Dr. Jeremiah and the Turning Point team to 10 rallies in cities across America, leading worship on 3 cruises, taking a trip to India to be in one of the largest churches in the world, and recording Shadow Mountain’s first ever live record of original songs. It has been a fast and furious ride. My family and I are very thankful for our time here as we have served this great church and Turning Point. We have also thoroughly enjoyed living in one of the most beautiful cities in the world! We will miss the friends we have grown to love in San Diego, and I will miss working closely with Dr. Jeremiah. His Bible teaching is truly a gift to all of us. I’m very grateful for our friendship and for his support of this decision. It hasn’t been without sadness, but you need to know that our relationship is strong and intact. We remain close friends, and always will be. I am not leaving because of a disagreement or a moral failure or anything of that nature. I am just simply following my heart and doing what I feel led by the Lord to do.
Many of you have sent me kind notes asking me my plans now that I have concluded my role at Shadow Mountain. The short answer is that I am, at least for a season, going back on the road in full-time concert/worship leading ministry. Throughout the entire 27 years of my ministry I have continued to maintain an active concert/conference ministry. But, this will be the first time since 2002 that I am full-time on the road. Maybe it’s because my boys are finishing high school and heading to college, or maybe it is because I just really enjoy the variety of being in multiple churches each month. I’m not sure. But I do believe God has placed this as a huge calling in my life, and at my age and at this point in my life, I feel like this is the right time.
God only knows, but I do feel like I will end up in at least a half-time capacity on a church team at some point. But for now, I am busy filling the calendar and looking forward to meeting many new people and ministering in many churches in which I’ve never been or haven’t been in years.
I would appreciate, very much, your prayers, your recommendations to your pastor or worship pastors, and your social media support as we venture into this new season. I am truly excited to have a time when all my efforts are focused on writing, singing, teaching, and preaching. This new endeavor starts as early as tomorrow! My wife and I will be headed to Orlando where I will join my band and lead worship for the Kingdom Advisor’s conference and then be at First Baptist Orlando this weekend. I’m so grateful for the opportunities that God has already brought our way, but there are many openings on the calendar, so please pray the Lord will fill them and that He will use me for His glory in each and every place.
Thank you friends. We truly love and appreciate all of you!!
